Our Wednesday Fellowship group held their annual day trip recently. This year our destination was Bakewell in the Peak District famous for its local Bakwell Tarts known by the locals as Bakewell Pudding. Some of our party tried a taste. Having set off from Brownley Green in a steady drizzle the rain had stopped by the time we stopped for coffee in Chapel-en-le-Frith. By the time we arrived in Bakewell the sun was shining as we wlked to our lunch restaurant. A very enjoyable afternoon was had by all. A great time of fellowship!
Staff Sargeant David Starmer of our 50th Manchester BB Company recently attended a special award ceremony in Preston to receive the highest award in the BB. David was presented with the Queens Badge by Colonel Sir David Trippier, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire. David is one of 15 boys in the North West of England to receive the award this year. David’s family were able to attend the event. Congratulations to David for his acheivement!
On a Saturday morning recently we held our first Gardening Working Party Lunch. Meeting at 10.30am many of our members set about tidying up the church garden and planting hanging baskets. The transformation of the appearance of our church was dramatic. Our next Gardening Working Party/Lunch will be on Saturday May 12th from 10.30am. Why not come along and join the fun.
Last Sunday we celebrated our 74th Church Anniversary. The morning worship saw many gathered at our family service in which all ages took part. In the afternoon we gathered to enjoy a cream tea followed by music and worship around the tea table. We were pleased to welcome groups from other local church fellowships who blessed us with music and praise.
