Farewell to Anand Gabriel

We were sad to say goodbye to our friend, Anand Gabriel, who returned to Chenai in India on 26th January.  A Christian and Gideon from the Church of South India, Anand (or Gabriel as he was known to many of us) joined out fellowship during his two years living in Wythenshawe whilst employed by Simon Carves Chemical Engineering.  Anand was a blessing to our church family and the local Manchester City Branch of Gideons International and will be sadly missed.  We know he will be happy to return to his family in India and we continue to pray for them as they continue to bring the gospel to those with whom they live and work.  The photo attached was taken after Anand’s last service at which he preached an inspiring sermon.

Gabriel farewell

Metrolink puts BGBC on track

The new Metrolink line passes immediately in front of our church.  The line to Manchester Airport is now in full operation and we have the trams passing our front door every 12 minutes in each direction.  You can now take the tram to our church.  The nearest stop is “Crossacres”.

Take a look at our first photo of the new tram passing the church.

“Holiday at Home” a great event for local older folk

We recently held our first Holiday at Home for older people who would not normally get to go on holiday.  Held on 3 afternoons 28-30th July, each afternoon began with a simulated plane journey with our own air stewardesses! A great time was had by all.  Activities included singalong, Musical enterttainment,  quizzes including “Play Your Cards Right” , Crafts, carpet bowls  and the afternoon rounded off with afternoon tea.  A Pause for Thought spot saw testimony given of God’s enduring love and care.  We even had a veteran from the Montecassino battle in Italy which was remembered this year being the 70th anniversary of that event.  New friends were made and great fun was had by all.  Check out the photos below:
